Privacy Policy

This policy covers the thereisajob.com web application and the There Is A Job browser companion extension (Chrome / Edge / Brave).

1. Who we are

There Is A Job helps job seekers source roles, tailor resumes, and assist with employer application forms. Contact: support via the in-app account channel or the email associated with your waitlist / paid account.

2. Data we process

• Account data: email, name, authentication tokens, subscription status.
• Job-search data: jobs you source/import, fit scores, application status.
• Resume data: resume text, tailored versions, uploaded files you provide.
• Profile & Q&A: contact fields and screening answers you save for autofill.
• Form memory (extension): site host, field signatures/labels, and answers you choose to save for that employer site. We refuse password, SSN, and card-like fields.
• Audit events (extension): non-secret form interaction metadata (e.g. fill, gap open) to improve reliability — not used for advertising.

3. Browser extension — single purpose

The companion extension’s only purpose is to help you fill job application forms using data you stored with There Is A Job, track unknown fields you answer, and attach a resume PDF when the form has a file input. It never clicks Submit on employer sites. You always review and submit.

• Auth token is stored in chrome.storage.local on your device.
• API calls go only to https://thereisajob.com (or a user-configured API base for development).
• Content scripts run on pages where you open job applications so fields can be filled.
• No third-party analytics SDKs are bundled in the extension package.

4. AI processing

When you use AI features (resume tailor, form answer suggestions), relevant resume text, job description snippets, and your form guide settings may be sent to our AI provider (SpaceXAI / xAI-compatible API) solely to generate the requested draft. Do not put secrets you do not want processed into those fields.

5. Sharing

We do not sell personal data. Processors include hosting (AWS), database, payment (Stripe for paid plans), and AI inference providers needed to run the product. Employer sites receive only what you submit on their forms after reviewing autofilled values.

6. Retention & deletion

Account and product data are retained while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us. Uninstalling the extension removes local storage on that browser; server-side form memory remains until you delete it or close the account.

7. Security

Transport uses HTTPS. API access uses token authentication. The extension does not remotely load executable code. We do not store payment card numbers in the extension.

8. Children

The product is not directed to children under 16.

9. Changes

We may update this policy; the effective date above will change. Material changes will be noted on this page.
